There are so many different ways to an extensive list of prospects. In today’s post, I will share with you five effective methods that will give you some positive results with building your own list of qualified prospects.

By the way, the methods listed below are completely free. There is not a single excuse to why you should not apply them to your current list building strategy.

Method One: Every page on your site should have some type of sign up form to capture information.

The key is to make sure your website or blog contains a sign up form on every single webpage to capture the contact information from your visitors. You will need some type of email marketing service with an auto responder to store your list of prospects safely.

The most common information sent to your list of prospects is a newsletter.

If you are interested in integrating an email newsletter with your website or blog, then it is wise to use the best email marketing service on the market to create and to distribute your newsletter.

Method Two: Signature files work like a charm.

Adding a link to your signature file is a very effective way to get people to you site, especially if you visit online communities on a regular basis. This simple and free method has created a steady stream of interested prospects to my sites for years. If you are participating in forums or blogs, always invite people to join your mailing list via your signature file.

Method Three: Post away to position yourself as valuable contributor to a forum or online community.

Forum posting is a fun and enjoyable way to get highly targeted traffic. I do NOT recommend you spending all day posting on forums and online communities. There are more productive things you can do with your time, especially while you are building your new business.

A rule of thumb is to contribute to forums and online communities on a topic that you genuinely enjoy and start answering questions.

All you have to do is contribute your helpful input once and you will create a steady stream of people clicking on the link in your signature file or bio for months to come. They will be curious to who is providing valuable and helpful information within the forum.

Sharing your content does not mean spamming the community.

That really pisses people off and they will know your motives are to just blast your business. That will have a negative effect on building a reputable online presence.

Method Four: Explain what you are all about and write about yourself.

There are plenty of article directories, such as Articles Base, Ezine Articles, and Squidoo where you can contribute your original articles. Every article you contribute will appear in the search engines. You can even contribute your articles to several business websites that encourage entrepreneurs like you, to contribute valuable content.

Your name displayed in the top search engines builds your credibility.

Be sure to include your professional bio or a link to your professional bio page whenever you write an article or contribute to a blog. This is a method that can be overlooked by many entrepreneurs, yet it is an easy way to explain what you and your business are all about.

Method Five: Increase your social circle by becoming popular via networking websites.

While you are creating a following of fans, friends, and potential joint ventures, make sure your give the connections in your social social networks an opportunity to join your list.
