Chiang Mai can also boast lots of history and culture.  The city was a former capital city of the Lanna Kingdom, and you will see lots of architectural styles that come from that period.  The buildings are of a different design to those in other parts of the country.  There are many gorgeous temples, perfect for days of exploration.  Some favourites include Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Phra Singh, and Chiang Man.  There are many museums, galleries, and workshops around the city, sure to appeal to a wide range of tastes and pique many interests.

There are also several splendid parks and gardens all throughout the city.  These include Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden, Dokmai Garden, and the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek.  Kids will enjoy the zoo and aquarium.

Chiang Mai is famous for is lively night market, where you can buy a wide range of goods.  There are other markets around the city too, selling fresh produce, clothing, souvenirs, and more.

Massage is very popular in Chiang Mai, and an abundance of spas and massage centres make relaxation very easy.  There are lots more leisure activities too, including clubs and classes.  Night life is lively, and cabaret shows and Muay Thai fights add diversity.  If you are feeling energetic you could even try your hand at Muay Thai training!  There are loads of swimming pools and sports facilities.

Chiang Mai is a very liveable and likeable city, with a sizeable expat community, good transport links, a pleasant climate, lots to see and do, and all the facilities you may need, such as good schools, supermarkets, banks, property advisers, legal professionals, places of worship, and so forth.  There are also lots of Chiang Mai properties available to rent and to buy.
